FLIGHT 99
VISUAL ECOSYSTEM
ROLE: DESIGNER
YEAR: 2022
Flight 99 is a concept for a bar and lounge located in major airports around the world. The challenge was to create a cross-cultural experience that is cohesive, yet unique to each bar's geographic and cultural location. The resulting visual identity is both intimate and modern, and seeks to provide a boutique-like level of creativity and attention to the brand and subsequent physical space.
The primary inspiration for the project centered on creating an identity and space that offered travelers a place of quiet refuge from the mind-numbing hustle and bustle of airport corridors. Flight 99 is curated to provide a space that is immersive and isolative, allowing patrons to disassociate and find peace in a place of chaos.
The resulting brand ideology, typographic identity, color palette, and visual ecosystem center around capturing this theme. Dark greys, deep teals, and accents of orange and yellow balance warmth and isolation, creating an environment that allows patrons to absorb into the space and moment. Combined with a modern typeface and design elements, the design system seeks to remain relevant regardless of time, location, or culture and communicates the premium quality of the brand.
